Our Philosophy

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your area of expertise?

Our experience in design and artistic passion is what makes us who we are. It is always what makes us great at what we do. All of our projects go through a design stage first whether big or small. As a design and build company we are best equipped to foster relationships with clients who are looking for someone to work through entire projects with them from inception to completion.

Do you do everything? Do you use subcontractors?

Not only are we experienced designers, plantsmen, masons, and even woodworkers, but from years of business we have established a strong network of pool builders, irrigation specialists, remodelers, carpenters, architects, electricians and more. Whatever you want in an outdoor space, we can help you bring it to life and are happy to manage whatever your project may call for.

I know exactly what I want, I just need a landscaper to install it. Maybe I even have the materials.

If you just need an installer and/or supplier, we are probably not the partner for you. If you are unsure about exactly what you want/need, please keep reading or reach out to us personally. We are happy to help any client in discerning which path forward is appropriate for them.

I have no idea what I want.

No problem. We won’t shy away from saying that we absolutely love what we do—when a client trusts us wholeheartedly with landscaping their home or estate we feel indebted to give them the work of art that they deserve. We love building relationships with our clients who trust our experience and our work and guarantee that you will be satisfied with the entire experience. No matter how much or how little thought you’ve already put into your outdoor space, we collaborate with and cater to all sorts of tastes, styles, cultural and historic influences or the like.

You charge for design? How much is it?

We have found that the artistry of a variety of trades has suffered in years past due the unfortunate dismissal of the value of design. In spite of this, we strongly believe that the design process is one of—if not the—most important step in any craft. While some may hesitate to invest in design, we know that experienced designers have the knowledge and resources to maximize a project budget while maintaining the desired style and feeling of a space. We are happy to report, that all of our customers arrive at the end of their project in complete and utter agreement. Depending on the scale of your project our design costs range from $1,000 up to $5,000.

Can you design a project on a budget?

We find most people fear using a designer because they will never create something that fits with a budget. On the contrary, we (and our customers) find that investing in design maximizes their budget because of the designer’s ability to introduce thoughtful and creative solutions to problems.

Do I have to know my budget?

No. We are happy to design projects for customers who know exactly the budget they want to fall within. However, many of our customers come to us saying “we don’t know what we need to spend.” In the design process, we will discuss overall project budget as well as approximate cost ranges of different elements of the project as we develop them—project design, budgeting, and phasing all work hand in hand.

Do you deal with properties of a specific size?

In terms of physical size, we work on large rural estates as well as small suburban backyard (and even urban) spaces. We are happy to help clients break projects into phases over time based on the scope of their undertaking.

Are you seasonal? Should I wait until spring to get in touch?

We find that clients often wait to think about landscaping until the winter is over and it starts to get warm again. We strongly recommend that if you would like to complete a project in the spring that you get in touch with us by the end of the previous fall. If you wait until springtime your project may wait until fall to begin. Our crews operate seasonally but our design office is open all year round.

Are you taking on new projects right now? When can you start? What about finish?

We are always taking new projects on but as a modestly sized firm we our schedule fluctuates and fills up quickly. We are intentional about working with customers to accommodate any specific deadlines. No matter how close or far away your timeline, we strongly recommend that you get in touch with us as soon as possible. Not only does this allow you to get the most out of our services, but it gives us a chance to get in at the ground floor and make the final product (and your overall experience) as efficient, excellent and comfortable as possible.

What can I expect after I get in touch? Where does the process start?

Someone will reach back out to you within 48 hours and we can begin narrowing in on the vision for your project. As we’ve mentioned before, all of our projects begin with design and a design proposal that outlines costs for the process and what you can from expect from us. Once we have all arrived at an agreed upon design we will present a construction proposal for your approval that thoroughly describes the elements of the jobs and the cost. Depending on the scope of your project, we may encourage you to enlist us in managing your project with a management proposal. This allows us to thoroughly oversee all subcontractors, permitting and construction elements of your project, guarantee best practices throughout, and ensure that your design is implemented as masterfully as possible.

What now? Where do I begin?

First and foremost, we would like to be introduced! Reach out to us via email or phone with your contact information, property location and whatever landscape venture you would like to undertake.
